The Accidental Slaveowner: Revisiting a Myth of Race and Finding an American FamilyWhat does one contested account of an enslaved woman tell us about our difficult racial past? What does one contested account of an enslaved woman tell us about our difficult racial past? Part history, part anthropology, and part detective story, The Accidental Slaveowner traces, from the 1850s to the present day, how different groups of people have struggled with one powerful story about slavery.

For over a century and a half, residents of Oxford, Georgia ("the birthplace of Emory University"), have told and retold stories of the enslaved woman known as "Kitty" and her owner, Methodist bishop James Osgood Andrew, first president of Emory's board of trustees. Bishop Andrew's ownership of Miss Kitty and other enslaved persons triggered the 1844 great national schism of the Methodist Episcopal Church, presaging the Civil War. For many local whites, Bishop Andrew was only "accidentally" a slaveholder, and when offered her freedom, Kitty willingly remained in slavery out of loyalty to her master. Local African Americans, in contrast, tend to insist that Miss Kitty was the Bishop's coerced lover and that she was denied her basic freedoms throughout her life.

Mark Auslander approaches these opposing narratives as "myths," not as falsehoods but as deeply meaningful and resonant accounts that illuminate profound enigmas in American history and culture. After considering the multiple, powerful ways that the Andrew-Kitty myths have shaped perceptions of race in Oxford, at Emory, and among southern Methodists, Auslander sets out to uncover the "real" story of Kitty and her family. His years-long feat of collaborative detective work results in a series of discoveries and helps open up important arenas for reconciliation, restorative justice, and social healing.

Makes the Best Cold Matcha Drinks
Flavor Name: Original, Size: 17.6 oz (Pack of 1), Flavor Name: Original, Size: 17.6 oz (Pack of 1)
I got the barista matcha latte because I heard it blends well in cold drinks. I made a lavender cream matcha with it more than once now & each one was so delicious. I liked it better than Starbucks Iced Lavender Cream Matcha and not as sweet as theirs imo. I plan to try making more drinks with it in the future when I purchase it again.

Good matcha and way cheaper than Starbucks and taste the same
Flavor Name: Original, Size: 5.3 oz (Pack of 1)
This matcha tastes pretty good and has a nice, smooth flavor. Unlike some matcha products, it doesn’t have an overly grassy or bitter taste. Instead, it tastes more like a matcha latte, making it enjoyable and easy to drink. It is definitely on the sweeter side, and you can tell that sweeteners have been added. Personally, I’m not a huge fan of the extra sweetness, but that’s more of a preference than a quality issue. Overall, it still tastes like real matcha and makes for a pleasant drink. If you enjoy sweeter matcha lattes, you’ll probably like this product. While I would have preferred a less sweet version, I still found it enjoyable overall.

Great so far!
Color: Green
Simple matcha kit that works. I make my Matcha in my mug so I did not need a bowl. (One less thing to clean. ) As long as you clean what you use right away, it all just comes off. It's survived near daily use since I baught it.
