The B+B SmartWorx Triple Isolated RS-232/422/485 To Single-Mode Fiber SC Converter is engineered to deliver dependable, long-distance serial communications over fiber. Designed for demanding industrial environments, this converter converts asynchronous serial data into a fiber signal, enabling two devices to communicate across miles with robust protection against electrical interference. With triple isolation and compatibility across RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485 interfaces, it ensures data integrity, minimizes downtime, and protects critical equipment from ground loops, surges, and EMI/RFI. When paired with a matching transmitter and receiver, these units form a transparent, high-performance serial link suitable for automation, SCADA, instrumentation, and remote monitoring applications.

  • Triple-isolated protection delivers galvanic isolation between the serial interfaces and the fiber link, dramatically reducing the risk of ground loops, transients, and voltage differences that can cause data corruption or equipment damage in harsh environments.
  • Broad serial interface support accommodates RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485 signaling with flexible duplex options, enabling half- or full-duplex operation over two single-mode fibers for reliable, long-range communication across diverse industrial networks.
  • Long-distance single-mode fiber connectivity extends reliable communication up to 9 miles (14.5 km) over standard single-mode fiber with an SC-style connector, making it ideal for remote installations, distributed control systems, and factory floor networks with remote equipment.
  • EMI/RFI immunity and high noise tolerance are inherent to fiber-optic links, ensuring clean data transmission in environments with strong electromagnetic interference, electrical noise, or hazardous industrial conditions.
  • Plug-and-play integration with clear diagnostics features a compact, robust design, straightforward installation, and LED indicators that simplify monitoring of link status, activity, and power, minimizing downtime during deployment and maintenance.

how to install B+B SmartWorx Triple Isolated RS-232/422/485 To Single-Mode Fiber SC Converter

  • Power down all equipment before installation and verify you have the correct model for your serial interface needs.
  • Connect the RS-232, RS-422, or RS-485 device(s) to the converter’s serial side according to your signaling standard, ensuring proper polarity and wiring per device documentation.
  • Attach two strands of single-mode fiber to the SC fiber connectors on the converter to enable the duplex link between stations; ensure connectors are clean and securely seated to prevent signal loss.
  • Apply power using the supplied power source and monitor the status indicators to confirm the unit initializes correctly and the link is established.
  • Test data communication by sending sample commands or data between the two serial devices over the fiber link, confirming half- or full-duplex operation as configured.

Frequently asked questions

  • Q: What interfaces does this converter support and at what speeds? A: It supports RS-232, RS-422, and RS-485 interfaces with data rates up to 115.2 kbps for RS-232 and up to 460 kbps for RS-422/RS-485, allowing flexible, high-speed serial communication over fiber.
  • Q: How far can the serial signal travel over fiber? A: The unit supports distances up to 9 miles (approximately 14.5 kilometers) when using standard single-mode fiber, enabling remote installations without repeaters.
  • Q: What kind of protection does the device offer? A: The converter features a triple-isolated design to provide galvanic isolation between the serial devices and the fiber link, reducing the risk of ground loops and protecting equipment from transients and EMI/RFI.
  • Q: Can I use half- or full-duplex communication with this converter? A: Yes. The device supports half- or full-duplex operation over two fibers, giving you flexibility to match your network topology and timing requirements.
  • Q: How do I install and verify a connection? A: Install power, connect the serial devices to the appropriate interfaces, attach the single-mode fiber to the SC ports, and use the LED indicators to confirm link/activity. Then perform a data test to validate communication.

A familiar story, just with…..less.
Format: Kindle
So, as other reviewers make clear, this is very similar to Pack Darling and The Beta. It’s much closer aligned with The Beta, in plot and maybe more like Pack Darling with characters. That being said, I don’t hate this…..but it wasn’t great either. It’s both books mentioned but just….less. Less angst, less emotion, less feeling. The plot feels very half fleshed out, and the “bad guy” feels underwhelming. I didn’t really feel any real emotions from and of the male leads, except maybe Oliver. The others fell sorta flat for me. And Mika makes herself out to be this big bad ass straight outta training and then we never see it from here again with the one fitting room incident as the exception. SPOILER: The whole, “Oh, I’m actually probably an Omega, but I don’t wanna be but I do actually wanna be but no one can ever know my secret that I do nothing to hide “ thing fell so flat. She never commutes to believing she was secretly an omega, but also mentions her “secret” a lot. It just felt so manufactured. I’m intrigued enough to read part 2 and see how the author closes everything out, but this is not one I’ll recommend or ever come back to.

Fantastic writing and non-stop action
Format: Kindle
This is a promising, fantastic beginning to what will be a 4-book series. Some readers may be content to read only the first 2 books, but I think you'll find that the story is so good that you'll want to keep reading books 3 and 4. Book 1 is about omega Elvana's introduction to the "Starling" brothers and their search for another missing person, Kelly. It's a bit of a rocky start, with deception and betrayal a key element. Hardly an auspicious beginning. Each member has their own path and purpose in the pack. Their interactions and the resulting narrative are so well-written that I found it difficult to put down. There is a cliffhanger that will have you reaching for book 2 as you finish, so make sure you have it on hand.

Fun read
Format: Kindle
I'm not really into mafia books but I love Roxy Collin's other series so I decided to give it a try. It had the same great romance, spice, swoon-worthy characters and exciting plot that are her signature. Arben was my favorite, although it was a bit sudden how quickly he changed from ignoring her to wanting to be pack. There were almost too many twists/layers of lies to keep track of but I'm looking forward to reading the other books. The only thing that detracted from the story for me was the need for a bit more proofreading. It was mentioned that Kelly is a female and male at different points, leading me to think she changed her mind at some point about the character's gender but didn't go back and edit it to align in all places. Like another reviewer pointed out, step siblings are different than half siblings. They are incorrectly referred to as step siblings because they (allegedly) share the same biological dad. There are a few other typos as well but those aren't a big deal.

Stepbrothers, Secrets, and Sizzling Heat
Format: Kindle
Twisted Lies by Roxy Collins is a wild ride through family secrets, amnesia, and a steamy stepbrother romance. When Kelly discovers her life is built on lies, she ends up tangled with three alpha stepbrothers and an assassin who once helped her through a heat. The tension? Off the charts! The heat is real, and the complications are messy in the best way. Full of twists, secrets, and fated mates? You'll be hooked from page one! Love omegaverse drama with a dash of taboo? This one's for you!

Good read
Format: Kindle
The book has some good twists and turns, but truthfully I was so confused on some things. It didn't have a good flow for me personally. Not sure if it's due to typos or using him/her wrongly, but I thought Kelly was both a guy and a girl. Actually I still don't know, and it made me incredibly frustrated. It would refer to Kelley as him or he, and then again in another part of the story as her she and sister. On to the next book, I hope there is some clarity and a smoother flow. This is a slow burn, and I just don't know how much I care for the Alphas yet. Idk if I recommend.
