Description
The Shapton Glass Diamond Lapping Plate is a high-quality tool designed to maximize the capabilities of medium and fine sharpening stones. As blades are sharpened on whetstones, the stones themselves change shape over time, affecting the planes at the blade's edge. To maintain a flat sharpening surface, the Diamond Lapping Plate is used.
This lapping plate features a glass base, providing exceptional precision when resurfacing sharpening stones. It restores medium stones and finishing stones to their original capabilities, allowing for sharpening with the finesse of a master craftsman. The high degree of surface flatness ensures highly accurate lapping.

How To Use
- The stones you intend to lap should be immersed in water for 2 to 3 minutes before starting work on them. Ensure non-Shapton stones absorb plenty of water.
- Use a pencil to draw a grid on the stone surface to be flattened.
- Place the lapping plate on a stable surface and wet it with water.
- To lap a stone, either lay it on the lapping plate and slide it forwards and backwards, then diagonally, or lay the lapping plate on the stone and slide it accordingly.
- Rinse off any slurry promptly after lapping and clean the plate before storage.
