SESSION DESCRIPTION:

Defining yourself as an author can help you stand out from the crowd, but the idea of branding can feel cold and daunting. So many writers lose themselves trying to become something else, and that leads to imposter syndrome. In this OnDemand webinar Sarah J. Sover reveals how embracing every part of who she is, not just her weird side, has helped her find success and confidence in her writing journey. Writers will learn how being true to yourself is one path to discovering who you are as a writer and bringing authenticity to your brand. When you’re not fighting to fit into a mold, everything from novel formation to marketing and outreach feels more natural.

INSTRUCTOR BIO:

Sarah J Sover’s debut novel, Double-Crossing the Bridge, published in 2019 by The Parliament House, became an Amazon Best Seller in humorous fantasy. Sarah was featured in September 2019’s issue of Writer’s Digest in the “Breaking In” column and subsequently wrote a guest post about leaning into your weird side for WritersDigest.com. Additionally, Sarah’s background in ecology aided her in crafting multiple articles for Dan Koboldt’s Science in Science Fiction, Fact in Fantasy blog series. Sarah lives in John’s Creek, GA with her husband, two demanding little people, seemingly immortal snake, and rescue pup Gandalf the Grey. She enjoys blues dancing and a good IPA.

Excellent book for students trying to grasp PTSD
As a professor teaching post traumatic stress reaction to graduate and undergraduate students, I was looking for a book that hit the basics along with some key pieces regarding assessment, diagnostic criteria, and examples that highlighted some of the subtleties associated with complex trauma. This book is well organized and not too overwhelming for people new and beginning the field and a nice refresher for seasoned clinicians. Easy to read, clearly outlined to build upon each subject, I found it both a solid read, affordable, and made it a required read for my course. Please note that I purchased this book way back October 12, 2013 but only now getting to put my thoughts in writing.

Great interventions and Trauma Theory
Format: Paperback
This a great book if you work with victims of trauma and want to understand how different types of trauma can present and what interventions can be used (i.e urge surfing, cognitive restructuring, focus breathing, etc.). It also include a section about medications and what to address first in treatment. I think it’s great for new clinicians who may be looking for interventions to add to their clinical toolbox.
